
On Saturday 7 June 2025, a serious road traffic accident took place on the A6 motorway in the direction of Belgium, as a result of which the motorway was closed to traffic for a number of hours.
The Grand Ducal Police reported that the accident happened at around 15:50 near the Bridel exit and involved a delivery van and a truck. According to initial reports, the delivery van collided at high speed with a truck that was at the end of the traffic jam.
Members of the emergency services, including ambulances and the police, attended the scene.
The driver of the delivery van, the sole occupant, was declared dead at the scene of the accident; the truck driver was uninjured in the accident.
The motorway was reopened at around 20:00.
The police informed the public prosecutor's office which commissioned the Measurement and Detection Service to investigate the cause of the accident.
