On Tuesday 22 September 2026, Luxembourg’s Roads and Bridges Administration announced that, as part of the continuous improvement of road infrastructure, it will renew the road surface on the A4 motorway on the section between Esch Junction and Cessange Cross from Friday 25 until Monday 28 September.
According to the administration, the works will take place from approximately 20:00 on Friday 25 September until around 05:00 on Monday 28 September to minimise traffic disruption during the working week.
The A4 motorway towards Luxembourg will be closed between Esch Junction and Cessange Cross. Access to the motorway will be restricted, and signposted diversions will be put in place.
The following access points will be closed:

the slip road from the A13 motorway coming from Bettembourg onto the A4 motorway towards Luxembourg;

access from the Foetz interchange towards Luxembourg;

access from the Pontpierre interchange towards Luxembourg;

access from the Leudelange-Nord interchange towards Luxembourg.
Road users wishing to access the A4 motorway from Esch Junction or the Foetz interchange will be diverted via the A13, A3 and A6 motorways.
Road users wishing to access the A4 motorway from the Pontpierre or Leudelange-Nord interchanges will be diverted via the CR169, N4 and N4A towards Gasperich Cross.
The preparatory works required for the motorway closure will be carried out several hours before the start of the roadworks.
Traffic disruptions are therefore expected from late Friday afternoon.
