Indian Association Luxembourg (IAL) and Sahaja Yoga Luxembourg has announced that they will organise an Indian classical music evening on Sunday 24 May 2026 from 18:00 to 20:00 at Le Royal Hotel on Luxembourg-Ville.
The evening will feature eminent Santoor maestro and music composer Pandit Abhay Rustum Sopori as part of the "Sound of Kashmir" Europe Tour 2026.
According to the organisers, the concert will serve as a tribute to his father and guru, the late Pandit Bhajan Sopori, who many people revered as the "Saint of Santoor".
The programme will include a performance by the Khalifa, or present custodian, of the Sopori-Sufiana Gharana, who continues an exclusive Santoor family tradition spanning more than ten generations.
The organisers highlighted the refined Sopori Baaj style, which audiences know for its mellifluous playing, rapid tempo and ability to blend vocal and instrumental nuances.
For the Sahaja Yoga community, Pt Abhay Sopori holds special significance as he composed and introduced Raga Nirmalkauns in 2009 in honour of Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi. She will perform alongside Aakash Brunner and Chanchal Singh.
The organisers described the concert as a “rare opportunity” to experience the music and culture of Jammu and Kashmir through one of its leading ambassadors and torchbearers.
