On Wednesday 3 September 2025, the Luxembourg Rugby Federation (Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Rugby - FLR) announced the appointment of Jamie Cudmore to its technical staff for the 2025/26 Rugby Europe Conference season.
According to the FLR, the former Canadian international brings extensive top-level experience and valuable leadership qualities to the national team as the Red Lions prepare for an important season.
Jamie Cudmore will be responsible for set pieces and contact areas. Head coach James Kent expressed his enthusiasm: “Having worked with Jamie before, I am delighted that he has joined our staff, and I know his professionalism and expertise will be highly valuable as we continue to build as a group. Jamie will look after the set piece and contact areas, two facets of the game which we feel we can improve massively on moving forward.”
Jamie Cudmore: Career Highlights
- International career: 43 caps for Canada between 2002 and 2016, including four Rugby World Cup appearances (2003, 2007, 2011, 2015).
- Vice-captain of Canada, he captained the team in the first two pool matches against Ireland and Romania at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
- Club career: played professionally in Wales (Llanelli, Llandovery) and France (Grenoble, Oyonnax), most notably with ASM Clermont Auvergne, where he made 212 appearances between 2005 and 2016.
- Top 14 Champion: key member of the Clermont side that won the French championship in 2010, the club’s first-ever national title.
- Leadership & coaching: recognised for his physical strength and leadership on the field, he moved into coaching after retirement, holding roles in both club and national team environments.
