Luxembourg Rugby (Lëtzebuerg Rugby) has announced that the national women’s Rugby sevens team will take part in an intensive training camp on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March 2026 at the Coque, the INS and the Stade Boy Konen.
According to Luxembourg Rugby, the initiative is aimed at strengthening the development and visibility of the women’s programme, which now benefits from the same performance standards, structural support and strategic focus as the men’s setup under national coach James Kent.
Over the two days, players will follow a programme including technical work, contact preparation, tactical sessions, video analysis and team building. The aim is to prepare a competitive squad for an international conference scheduled to take place in Andorra later this year.
James Kent commented: “I expect an intense weekend of hard work and focus. Our objective is to build a dynamic team capable of performing at a high level, and this camp plays a key role in preparing the group we aim to present this season.”
At national level, clubs are also continuing their development. RC Walferdange is currently the only club in the country with a senior women’s team, competing in the Belgian XV championship. Meanwhile, Rugby Club Luxembourg is developing a youth women’s section (U14 to U20), with players preparing to take part in cross-border tournaments.
The initiative also highlights the characteristics of Rugby sevens, the discipline played by the national women’s team. It features seven players per side on a full-size pitch, short matches made up of two seven-minute halves and a tournament format allowing multiple games in one day, with an emphasis on speed, agility and continuous play.
Lëtzebuerg Rugby added that these efforts align with the core values of the sport, including respect, integrity, discipline, solidarity and passion.
By combining elite preparation with ongoing club development, Lëtzebuerg Rugby aims to further strengthen the women’s Rugby sevens pathway in Luxembourg.
