The National Institute of Physical Activity and Sports (INAPS) has reported that the second edition of "Gamechangers - fir e staarke Benevolat am Sport", organised with the support of Luxembourg's Ministry of Sport, took place at the Stade de Luxembourg on Wednesday 18 June 2025.
INAPS noted that this event represents a new important step in the implementation of its action plan to strengthen volunteering in sports.
INAPS took into account the feedback from participants of the first edition and, based on these findings, developed a practical guide for coordinating volunteering in sports clubs and federations. The guide and related supporting documents can be downloaded from the INAPS website.
The presentation of the new guide and the keynote speaker's address brought together more than 180 sports enthusiasts from municipalities, federations, clubs and national institutions. In the presence of Luxembourg's Minister of Sport, Georges Mischo, and the Minister for Family Affairs, Solidarity, Living Together and Reception of Refugees, Max Hahn, the discussion highlighted the relevance and scope of the topic and the commitment of those involved in the field.
Through the "Gamechangers" action plan, INAPS said it aims to provide concrete support to stakeholders and volunteering through several key measures:
- the "Benevolatskreeslaf", a structured cycle for recruiting, training and supervising volunteers;
- targeted initial and continuing training;
- the "Guide fir Benevolatskoordinatioun am Sportveräin", a best practices manual and toolbox for clubs and federations;
- a consulting service to improve volunteer management within sports organisations.
To ensure the practical and effective implementation of the guide on the ground, INAPS will organise a series of workshops in municipalities starting in autumn 2025. These sessions are designed to allow clubs to familiarise themselves with the guide's content and receive support tailored to their specific needs.
Through "Gamechangers," INAPS said it is reaffirming the fundamental importance of volunteering as the cornerstone of vibrant, inclusive and successful sport.
