On Tuesday 11 August 2026, Luxembourg swimmer Rémi Fabiani set a new national record in the men's 100m freestyle on the second day of the 2026 European Aquatics Championships in Paris.
The Grand Duchy athlete clocked 48.44 seconds to finish fourth in his heat and qualify for the semi-finals as the fourteenth fastest swimmer overall. He later placed fifteenth overall in the semi-finals with a time of 48.66 seconds, falling short of a place in the final.
Remi Fabiani's latest national record comes just one month after he rewrote Luxembourg's men's 100m backstroke record at the Open Luxembourg Nationals and Masters Nationals, where he clocked 54.21 seconds to lower the previous national mark by more than a second.
Rémi Fabiani is also scheduled to compete in the men's 50m backstroke and the 4x100m freestyle relay on Thursday 13 August 2026, followed by the 50m freestyle on Saturday 15 August 2026.
Luxembourg was also represented by Ralph Daleiden Ciuferri in the men's 100m freestyle, where he finished 24th overall in 48.72 seconds, narrowly missing out on a place in the semi-finals. Daleiden Ciuferri is next scheduled to compete in the men's 200m freestyle on Thursday.
Luxembourg is represented by a total of eight swimmers at the European Aquatics Championships under the guidance of FLNS National Technical Director and Federal Coach Christophe Audot. In the coming days, Emma Barthel (women's 400m individual medley, 200m breaststroke and individual medley), Finn Kemp (men’s 4x100m freestyle relay, 50m and 200m breaststroke and 200m individual medley), Florian Frippiat (men's 100m butterfly, 200m butterfly and 4x100m freestyle relay), João Carneiro (men's 200m and 50m breaststroke and 4x100m freestyle relay), Lou Jominet (women's 200m, 1,500m and 400m freestyle) and Julien Henx (men's 4x100m freestyle relay) are all scheduled to compete in Paris.
