Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy has announced that the official launch of the 6th edition of Vëlosummer will take place on Sunday 20 July 2025 at 10:30 at Place Saint-Michel in Mersch.
The launch event will take place in the presence of Luxembourg’s Minister Delegate for Tourism, Eric Thill, and the Mayor of Mersch, Michel Malherbe.
The Ministry noted that this official launch forms part of the "Alles op de Vëlo" event, which this year is associated with the flagship cycling initiative co-organised by the Ministry of the Economy and the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works. Organised by the municipalities of Mersch, Mamer and Kopstal, "Alles op de Vëlo" offers a public cycling festival along a route closed to motorised traffic between Mersch and Mamer.
Following its success in 2024, when more than 31,000 people took part, this year’s Vëlosummer will feature fourteen cycling routes across the country, according to the Ministry. The 2025 edition will offer more than 500 km of cycling routes to explore across Luxembourg and will run from Saturday 19 July to Sunday 24 August 2025.
Returning this year via the VisitLuxembourg app, the Vëlosummer Challenge invites participants to cycle all fourteen routes and answer themed questions at designated locations for a chance to win the symbolic yellow jersey of the 2025 edition.
To encourage wider participation, bike rental services are available along several routes, by reservation.
