During its City Breakfast on Wednesday 25 February 2026, the City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL) announced the launch of a new poster competition for the 2026, 2027 and 2028 editions of the Schueberfouer - Luxembourg's largest annual funfair.
The 686th edition of the Schueberfouer will take place in Glacis in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg from Friday 21 August to Wednesday 9 September 2026.
Founded in 1340 by John the Blind, the Schueberfouer has evolved from a medieval market into a modern fairground festival, featuring hundreds of food stalls, rides and other attractions.
By launching the fifth edition of the official poster competition, the VdL is inviting participants to demonstrate "inventiveness, boldness and creativity" in submitting an "original visual, representative of the festive and popular spirit" of the Schueberfouer. The competition is open to individuals residing in Luxembourg. Submissions may take various forms, including photography, painting or graphic design. The deadline for submissions is Monday 13 April 2026.
A jury, appointed by the VdL College of the Mayor and Aldermen, will select and award prizes of €2,000, €1,500 and €1,000 to the three best projects.
Speaking to journalists at the City Breakfast, Luxembourg City Mayor Lydie Polfer noted that there had been some "nice results" from past poster competitions and expressed hope for similar outcomes for the next three editions of the Schueberfouer.
Full details regarding participation requirements are available on the official Schueberfouer website: fouer.vdl.lu.
