Grace and elegance were the hallmarks at the Luxembourg National Day reception hosted by His Excellency Jean-Louis Wolzfeld, Ambassador of Luxembourg to America.

The entire embassy staff extended a warm welcome to the guests as they entered the beautiful embassy in the diplomatic section of Washington DC. Ambassador Wolzfeld and Deputy Chief of Mission, Olivier Baldauff, greeted the guests personally and made everyone feel at home.

Luxembourg expatriates, US citizens of Luxembourg heritage, prominent business leaders, artists, academics, bankers, veteran of World War II and friends of Luxembourg all joined in the celebration. Among the dignitaries joining the National Day was Ambassador Johan Verbeke of Belgium. The ambassadors of Austria, Capo Verde, the Netherlands and Liechtenstein also attended, as did Dr. Amela Hubic, Senior Advisor to the Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund, the Embassy Series Founder Jerome Barry and his wife Lisette Barry who also participated in the joyous event. 

During his remarks, Ambassador Wolzfeld talked about the long history of friendship between the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the United States. He talked about the famous Battle of the Bulge and General George S Patton’s burial in Luxembourg. Ambassador Julieta Noyes - Deputy Assistant Secretary, US Department of State, reiterated the sentiments of friendship between two long-term allies. She discussed the important role Luxembourg has played as a US ally and congratulated Luxembourg on the upcoming Presidency of the European Union (EU).

The Luxembourg National Day was once again an opportunity for Ambassador Wolzfeld and his staff to strengthen the friendly ties with the diplomatic corps, artists and the business community.
