As part of a financial mission with Luxembourg for Finance (LFF), Luxembourg's Minister of Finance, Gilles Roth, visited London in the United Kingdom (UK) from Wednesday 7 to Thursday 8 May 2025.

As reported by Luxembourg's Ministry of Finance, Minister Roth met with Emma Reynolds, Economic Secretary to the UK Treasury, as well as representatives of major players in the British financial sector also present in the Grand Duchy. Minister Roth stated: "Luxembourg is the UK's largest financial services export market within the EU. Moreover, 17% of the assets under management in our funds come from British promoters."

The Luxembourg minister also participated in a business lunch organised by the City of London to exchange views with representatives of the British financial sector.

Minister Roth emphasised: "The United Kingdom and Luxembourg have a long-standing partnership in financial services, based on complementarity and shared values. Together, we champion open markets and multilateralism, ensuring the best possible services for our businesses and customers during this volatile period."

The Finance Minister also visited the Imperial War Museum (IWM), where he was welcomed by Curator Simon Offord. This visit was part of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe (VE Day).

He noted: "We have not forgotten the United Kingdom's commitment to our freedom. Today, Britain remains a friend, partner and important ally for our shared security in Europe and beyond."
