On Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 November 2025, Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Xavier Bettel, travelled to Milan, Italy for a working visit.

As reported by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, the working visit allowed Minister Bettel to meet with representatives of the Italian business community, particularly from northern Italy. The aim of these discussions was to engage in dialogue with companies already present in Luxembourg or interested in establishing themselves there, in order to discuss the general business environment and the country’s attractiveness.

The ministry noted that Italy is one of Luxembourg’s main economic partners, with many Italian companies established in Luxembourg and vice versa.

During his visit, Minister Bettel stated: "Luxembourg and Italy maintain a historical, diverse and close relationship that benefits both our countries. Luxembourg aims to strengthen this relationship and to remain attractive for Italian companies, while also reinforcing our cultural and human ties."

The trip to Milan also provided an opportunity to meet the honorary consuls of Luxembourg in Milan and Turin and to swear in the new honorary consul in Genoa.
