On Thursday 5 February 2026, Luxembourg's Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Action and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade reported that an official ceremony for the handover of generators and humanitarian demining equipment intended for Ukraine took place in Luxembourg.
According to the ministry, on this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Action, Xavier Bettel, handed over 114 humanitarian demining kits and 33 generators to the Ukrainian authorities, in the presence of the Ukrainian Embassy accredited to Luxembourg.
Each humanitarian demining kit is designed for use by a single deminer and enables the detection and remote neutralisation of mines. The equipment will be transferred to Ukraine via the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism (EUCPM). This marks the second donation of this kind, following Luxembourg’s provision of 110 kits in 2024.
The support comes as Ukraine continues to face deliberate tactics by Russia aimed at targeting its energy infrastructure. Combined with harsh winter conditions, this situation has deprived many regions of electricity, with the provision of 33 generators intended to strengthen the resilience of affected populations, noted the ministry.
The ministry added that the generators supplied include 30 small-capacity units, suitable for domestic use, as well as three high-capacity generators intended for infrastructure requiring a higher energy supply.
