From Sunday 12 to Wednesday 15 April 2026, Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, undertook an economic mission to Colorado Springs in the United States (US), where he attended the Space Symposium, met with American stakeholders and visited several companies in the space sector.
According to Luxembourg's Ministry of the Economy, the minister held meetings with several US companies active in the space sector, highlighting the dynamism and high technological level of the American ecosystem, particularly in Colorado. These exchanges helped identify opportunities for cooperation, investment and industrial development in Europe, and more specifically in Luxembourg.
Organised jointly by the Directorate for Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office (LTIO) in San Francisco, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA), this economic mission aimed to strengthen Luxembourg's presence in the US market and promote the national space ecosystem to key international players.
Company visits and industry meetings
Following a welcome networking reception organised by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and the LTIO in San Francisco on Sunday evening, Minister Delles began the week with a visit to the manufacturing site of Albedo, a pioneer in the Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) field. He toured the facilities where the company's satellites are built and discussed the economic prospects of this emerging sector. Discussions also addresses Albedo's European ambitions and Luxembourg's potential role as a base for its activities in Europe.
The minister also met with representatives of True Anomaly, which develops satellites and software solutions for the protection of military space infrastructure. He then met with representatives of Umbra, a company specialising in Earth observation using synthetic aperture radar, and Hawkeye, specialising in the operation of a constellation of satellites capable of detecting and analysing radio frequency emissions for security and intelligence purposes. Discussions focused on space security challenges and opportunities to strengthen cooperation with Europe, particularly Luxembourg, which is considered a neutral and strategic partner within NATO.
Space Symposium
Minister Delles also met with Heather Pringle, CEO of the Space Foundation, organiser of the Space Symposium, one of the world's largest gatherings for the space industry. The exchange highlighted Luxembourg's strong presence at the event and aimed to strengthen ties with this key player in the global space ecosystem.
At the 41st Space Symposium, Luxembourg was represented by a national pavilion, organised by the LSA and the Directorate for Foreign Trade, with the support of Luxembourg Trade and Invest. For its second participation, the pavilion brought together seventeen Luxembourg companies, including startups, and institutions active in the space sector: Amphinicy Technologies, Astrobiome, ClearSpace, Data Design Engineering, Edge Aerospace, EMTDLab, ESRIC, Exobiosphere, Gradel, HITEC, Infinite Orbits (LMO), Integrasys, ispace EUROPE, Neuraspace, Northstar, Odysseus Space, Space Cargo Unlimited and SPiN. According to the ministry, this collective participation illustrates the growing interest of Luxembourg companies in the US market and Luxembourg's ability to position itself as a credible and innovative player in the global space economy.
Institutional meetings
As part of efforts to strengthen institutional relations, Minister Delles met with representatives of the US State Department, the US Department of Commerce and the US Department of Transportation to discuss bilateral cooperation in the space sector, a cross-cutting field involving numerous US government agencies.
He also met with Colorado Lieutenant Governor Diana Primavera to discuss the state's strengths in defence and space, as well as existing synergies with Luxembourg, including several companies active on both sides of the Atlantic.
Blue Origin announcement
After visiting the Luxembourg pavilion at the Space Symposium, the minister also stopped at the stands of SES and EuroComposites, highlighting their role as key players in Luxembourg-US economic relations, particularly in satellite telecommunications and industrial and defence value chains.
On the sidelines of the symposium, the official opening of Blue Origin's European office in Luxembourg was announced. According to the ministry, this strategic move confirms Luxembourg's attractiveness to major international players in the space sector and further strengthens its position as a European hub for the space economy.
Minister Delles also met Professor Jean Koster, Professor Emeritus of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder, a Luxembourg native whose expertise and networks contribute to strengthening ties between the Luxembourg and US space ecosystems.
Minister Delles stated: "This mission to Colorado Springs illustrates the dynamism and international reach of our Luxembourg space ecosystem. My discussions with American companies and political representatives confirm that Luxembourg is perceived as a reliable strategic partner in the space sector. The official opening of the European office of Blue Origin, a leading player in the international space industry, next week in Luxembourg represents a key milestone and demonstrates the growing attractiveness of our ecosystem. We will continue to work to strengthen these transatlantic partnerships for the benefit of our businesses and our entire economy."
