The cabinet of the Luxembourg government, at its meeting on Friday, has agreed to adopt the draft Grand-Ducal regulation amending the Grand Ducal regulation of 24 May 2013 concerning the operation of the Army School which will see the Army School being integrated within the Lycée technique d’Ettelbruck.

This integration is scheduled to become operational from autumn 2015. The integration of the Lycée technique d’Ettelbruck will also respond to the increasing level of education required for admission to careers reserved for former volunteer soldiers.

As part of the integration, voluntary soldiers will remain in a conversion phase and will remain subject to all statutory and regulatory provisions applicable to volunteer soldiers. They will continue to remain available to the command of the army under strictly military activities, in consultation with the Director of the Lycée technique d’Ettelbruck. The director of the school will be responsible for the organisation and supervision of their school. The teaching staff of the Army School will be seconded to the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth.
