The Grand Ducal Police have reported arrests for possession of drugs and counterfeit money as well as a suspected case of arson.

According to the police, on the afternoon of Tuesday 26 August 2025, officers noticed a suspicious man in a car park in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie. The man got into a car with another person, drove away with them and later returned to the car park. He then left the area in a vehicle with two additional occupants.

Suspecting a drug transaction, the officers began to follow the vehicle. They eventually stopped the car in Capellen and during a search the officers found drugs and counterfeit money. Acting on instructions from the public prosecutor, officers arrested all three suspects.

Then late on the afternoon of 27 August 2025, a fire broke out in a cardboard container on Rue Pierre Grégoire in Pétange. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and initial investigations revealed that someone had deliberately set the fire.

Police identified and apprehended a suspect at the scene, but he behaved uncooperatively and became aggressive towards the officers.

Acting on instructions from the public prosecutor, the police arrested the man and brought him before an investigating judge on the morning of Thursday 28 August 2025. Officers also filed a report for rebellion.
