
The Grand Ducal Police have reported that on Sunday 14 September 2025, a man received a gunshot wound to the back near Place Hamilius in Luxembourg-Ville.
According to the initial report, the police received reports of gunfire around 19:45 on Avenue Monterey. Several police units immediately attended the scene and, near Place Hamilius, officers found a person with a gunshot wound to the back. They provided urgent medical treatment and took the person to hospital.
According to the police, two individuals approached a four-person group in a park near Villa Vauban and one of the two fired a shot at the group. The two then fled in a car.
During a swiftly launched manhunt, police located the escape vehicle in Merl, which was now carrying three occupants. On the instructions of the Public Prosecutor, the authorities detained the three suspects. They will appear before the examining magistrate on Monday 15 September 2025.
The operation involved numerous police units, including patrols from several stations, the police dog unit, the tactical unit, forensic investigators and criminal police detectives. The authorities’ initial findings indicate a connection between the perpetrator and the victim group. Further investigations are under way.
