The Grand Ducal Police have reported that during the night of Saturday 20 through Sunday 21 December 2025, they carried out alcohol intoxication checks on the instruction of the Public Prosecutor, as provided for in Article 12, paragraph 3, sub-paragraph 8 of the amended law of 14 February 1955 concerning traffic regulations on all public roads.

According to the police, the checks took place on Rue de Wilwerdange in Troisvierges and Haaptstrooss in Hosingen.

In total 285 drivers were subjected to a preliminary breath test, even in the absence of any serious indication.

In seven cases, the test proved positive and four reports and three fixed-penalty warnings were issued accordingly.

In addition, one driver was unable to produce a valid driving licence, resulting in an official report. Another driver was found to be using a tax disc that had expired more than 60 days previously, an offence punishable by a fine of €250.

The police also reported that during the checks, two drivers each had two points deducted, respectively for failure to register the vehicle and for non-compliant technical modifications.
