The Grand Ducal Police have reported that two men were arrested on Sunday 8 February 2026, following separate incidents involving violence and theft in the Luxembourg-Gare district.
According to the police, in the early hours of Sunday, a robbery was reported in Rue de la Fonderie, during which the suspect became physically violent towards the victim and stole their mobile phone. The suspect was apprehended shortly afterwards following a search operation and was arrested on the orders of the Public Prosecutor’s Office before being brought before an investigating judge.
Later that morning, at around 11:00, an attempted theft was reported at a fast-food restaurant on Avenue de la Gare. According to initial information, the suspect became physically aggressive towards a member of staff and allegedly displayed a syringe after being refused cash. The suspect was apprehended shortly afterwards by a police patrol, arrested on the orders of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and brought before an investigating judge on Monday 9 February 2026.
