The Grand Ducal Police have reported two recent arrests linked to theft offences in Luxembourg City and Wemperhardt.

Shortly after midnight on the night of Friday 13 to Saturday 14 February 2026, police received a report of a handbag theft at a venue on Avenue de la Porte-Neuve in Luxembourg City. According to initial information, the bag had been stolen inside the premises. Following a search operation and further investigations, officers identified and apprehended a suspect. Various stolen items were found in his possession, including a mobile phone that had been reported stolen in connection with a previous theft. On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, the suspect was arrested and the stolen goods were returned to the victims.

In a separate incident, in the early afternoon of Saturday 14 February 2026, police were notified of a case of shoplifting at a shoe store in Wemperhardt. The suspected perpetrator was detained at the scene by security staff at the shopping centre. Subsequent investigations indicated that the man could be linked to additional shoplifting offences involving shoes, alcohol and handbags. On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, he was arrested and brought before an investigating judge.
