On Tuesday 17 February 2026, the Grand Ducal Police launched an appeal for witnesses to help identify unknown individuals in connection with a handbag theft that occurred on Monday 21 July 2025.
According to the police, the theft took place in a shopping centre on Route d'Arlon in Bertrange. As part of the investigation, officers are seeking to identify the persons shown in the published photographs.
Anyone with information that could assist in identifying the individuals is asked to contact the Merl/Belair police station via tel.: 244-491000 or via email: Police.merl@police.etat.lu.

Update: On Wednesday 18 February 2026, the police confirmed that one of the individuals - a female suspect - had since been identified and removed the woman's photo from their appeal. At the time of writing, they were still seeking to identify the male suspect.
