On Wednesday 4 March 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported eighteen fines issued for using a mobile phone while driving and two incidents linked to drunk driving.

Both cases occurred on Wednesday. The first took place during a traffic check between 15:30 and 17:00 in Rue Geespelt in Livange, which focused mainly on the use of mobile phones while driving.

During the 90-minute check, police issued eighteen fines of 250€ and four penalty points for using a mobile phone while driving. In addition, three drivers failed to present all the required vehicle documents.

Later the same day, police received a report of an accident in Rue de Schifflange in Kayl where a driver crashed into several parked vehicles. The driver suffered minor injuries, and officers took him to the hospital for a medical check. According to the police, he behaved uncooperatively towards hospital staff and the officers.

After a positive alcohol test, police withdrew his driving licence. Due to his intoxicated condition and because he posed a danger to himself and others, officers placed him in a police holding cell to sober up following a medical examination.

The second drunk driving incident occurred during the night of Thursday 5 March 2026 when a police patrol stopped a vehicle on Route de Luxembourg in Dippach for a road traffic check. During the check, officers noticed clear signs of alcohol consumption. The alcohol test was positive, and officers issued a provisional driving ban.
