The Grand Ducal Police have reported that multiple alcohol testing checks were performed in Bergem, Mondercange, Itzig and Luxembourg City between Friday 27 and Saturday 28 March 2026.
The checks were undertaken at the request of the State Prosecutor, as provided for by Article 12, paragraph 3, subparagraph 8 of the amended law of 14 February 1955 on the regulation of traffic on all public roads.
On Friday 27 March checks were performed on Grand-Rue in Bergem between the hours of 14:30 and 16:00.
124 motorists were subjected to a preliminary breath test, even in the absence of any serious indication. No positive cases were returned.
During the checks, three cases of irregularities concerning vehicle documents were identified.
Additional checks were performed on Rue d’Ehlerange in Mondercange between the hours of 17:00 and 18:30.

Across the evening of Friday 27 March into the early hours of Saturday 28 March, checks were performed on Rue des Aubépines in Luxembourg-Merl between the hours of 22:30 and 23:30, on Rue de Bonnevoie in Itzig between the hours of 00:30 and 01:30, and on Rue de Trèves in Luxembourg-Cents between the hours of 02:30 and 03:30.
155 motorists were subjected to a preliminary breath test, even in the absence of any serious indication. In nine cases, the test proved positive, and three official reports and six fixed penalty notices were issued. Two driving licences were withdrawn on the spot.
