The Grand Ducal Police have reported several incidents involving weapons and violence across Luxembourg over the weekend.

At around 16:40 on Saturday 28 March 2026, police received a report of a person carrying a firearm on Route de Thionville in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie. Upon arrival, witnesses indicated that the individual was hiding inside a shop. Officers located and apprehended the suspect.

A search led to the seizure of pepper spray, a pocket knife and other items. The firearm, which did not contain a magazine, was found in a rubbish bin inside the shop and was also seized. According to initial investigations, the suspect is believed to have robbed someone at knifepoint the previous day. He was arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor and brought before an investigating judge the following day.

In a separate incident on Saturday, police were called to Rue de la Poste in Colmar-Berg following reports of an armed individual. According to initial information, a person carrying a knife entered a cultural centre where a family celebration was taking place. The individual reportedly said they were looking for a specific person but left immediately when they did not find them. An investigation has been launched; an initial search has so far been unsuccessful.

At approximately 01:32 on Sunday 29 March 2026, police received a report of a violent theft on Avenue Monterey in Luxembourg-Ville. Initial findings indicate that a person was physically assaulted by two unknown assailants in an attempted handbag theft. An investigation has been launched and a search for the suspects is ongoing.
