The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a fatal traffic accident occurred on the A6 in the early hours of Wednesday 1 April 2026.
At approximately 02:00, police were notified of a traffic accident on the A6 near Steinfort, heading towards Belgium. Initial reports indicate that two cars were involved. A 37-year-old driver died at the scene. A breathalyser test carried out on the other driver returned a positive result; according to initial findings, he did not sustain serious injuries.
The Public Prosecutor's Office has tasked the forensic police unit with investigating the cause of the accident and has ordered an autopsy.
The road was closed for the duration of the rescue and recovery operations.
UPDATE: The police have launched an appeal for witnesses. According to initial reports, another vehicle overtook the crashed cars shortly before the accident.
