On Tuesday 5 May 2026, a delegation from the Committee on European Affairs of the Oireachtas of Ireland, led by Barry Ward, visited the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg.

The delegation was welcomed by Gusty Graas, Luxembourg MP, Chairman of the Foreign and European Affairs, Cooperation, Foreign Trade and the Greater Region.

During the visit, the Irish delegation held an exchange of views with members of the Luxembourg parliamentary committee. The programme also included an official welcome and the signing of the guest book.

The visit formed part of a broader programme of engagement with European Union (EU) institutions and organisations based in Luxembourg, as well as members of the Irish community working within those institutions.

The delegation, comprising Deputy Paula Butterly and Senator Rónán Mullen, also held a bilateral exchange ahead of Ireland's upcoming Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The Committee is expected to continue its programme of engagement with parliamentary counterparts across EU Member States in the lead-up to the Presidency.

Deputy Paula Butterly, said: "It was a pleasure for the Committee delegation to visit the Chamber of Deputies today. As a long-standing and valued EU partner, Luxembourg offers an important perspective, and this engagement provided a timely opportunity to exchange views on issues of shared interest to parliamentarians in advance of Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union."
