On Thursday 27 August 2026, Luxembourg's national weather portal, MeteoLux, issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across the country.
The yellow weather warning (indicating "potential danger") will be in place for the whole of Luxembourg from 20:00 on Thursday 27 August until 09:00 on Friday 28 August 2026.
According to MeteoLux, thunderstorms may bring between 15 and 25 litres of rain per square metre in a short period of time, as well as wind gusts of between 65 and 75 km/h and hail. The weather service noted that locally stronger phenomena cannot be ruled out.
MeteoLux forecast mainly dry conditions under cloudy skies for Thursday afternoon, with temperatures reaching 25°C to 27°C in the north and 27°C to 29°C in the south. Thunderstorms are expected to cross the region from the early evening, with most storms forecast to move across Belgium or the Ardennes, although Luxembourg may also be affected.
Some thunderstorms could still occur on Friday morning and possibly in the afternoon, before the risk decreases later in the day.
