On Thursday 27 August 2026, Luxembourg's Grand Ducal Police reported three arrests in connection with separate theft and burglary incidents that took place over the previous 24 hours.
At around 06:30 on Wednesday 26 August, police were alerted to a theft from a vehicle on Rue Joseph Junck in Luxembourg-Gare. According to initial information, the victim was unloading something from a van when two suspects opened the driver's door and stole a backpack containing a wallet.
Police immediately launched a search and located one of the suspects. The stolen backpack was found shortly afterwards on Rue de Reims. Further investigations indicated that the suspect had attempted to make payments using the stolen credit cards. On the orders of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the suspect was arrested and brought before an investigating judge that afternoon.
In a separate incident at around 02:00 on Thursday 27 August, a police patrol noticed two men walking towards officers on Rue de Bonnevoie in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie, one of whom was wearing leather gloves. Officers stopped and checked the two men.
Subsequent investigations revealed that a burglary had taken place in the basement of an apartment building on Rue du Verger. During a search of the suspects, police seized items including pliers, leather and latex gloves and a basement key which had reportedly been taken during the burglary.
On the orders of the Public Prosecutor's Office, both suspects were arrested and brought before an investigating judge later that morning.
