The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a man was arrested in Luxembourg-Ville following the discovery of a damaged vehicle in Luxembourg-Ville in the early hours of Sunday 30 August 2026.
According to the police, at around 04:50 on Sunday, a police patrol noticed a vehicle with its hazard lights on in the area of Boulevard Royal in Luxembourg City. According to initial findings, one of the side windows had been smashed. There were also traces of blood on the vehicle.
Shortly afterwards, officers encountered a person with bleeding hands on Avenue Amélie. The man attempted to evade a check by the officers and put up significant resistance when being handcuffed. It was also observed that he was under the influence of alcohol. Officers were ultimately able to bring the person under control.
An investigation was launched and a report was drawn up.
Additionally, at approximately 16:30 on Sunday the police were notified that two individuals had attempted several times to withdraw money from an ATM on Route de Wasserbillig in Mertert using someone else’s bank card. A police patrol located the suspects shortly afterwards.
During the check, officers found that the two individuals were in possession of a total of four bank cards that had not been issued to them. Further checks revealed that the cards had previously been stolen during a theft. Several purchases had also already been made using the stolen cards. The two suspects were also found to be in possession of other items that could be linked to the victims.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered the arrest of both suspects and a report was drawn up.
Moreover, at around 20:10 on Sunday a police patrol noticed an individual on Avenue de la Gare in Luxembourg-Gare who was subject to an existing summons order. Officers were able to identify and stop the man and on the instructions of the Public Prosecutor's Office, he was arrested and appeared before the competent investigating judge on Monday 31 August.
