On Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August 2026, the Fédération Cynologique Luxembourgeoise Asbl (FCL) held the 118th and 119th International Dog Shows Luxembourg at Luxexpo The Box in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.
More than 2,100 dogs competed on each day of the event, with 2,181 entered for the 118th International Dog Show and 2,163 for the 119th edition. Participants represented 27 countries, while the programme also featured six competitions and twenty trade exhibitors.
“Well, the dog show, it's a vitrine. It's a showground to show the quality of dogs that may exist. It gives visitors who are looking for a dog the possibility to see many different breeds. It may bring dogs closer to people who do not have dogs and who are interested, even though you have to know that if you're interested in a dog, you also have to be interested in what it means in terms of time investment, money investment and all the things that you have to do to keep your dog healthy,” Malou Grasges, President of the FCL, told Chronicle.lu.
She also noted that the FCL has been affiliated with the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) for more than 50 years and that, as a full member, it is required to organise a number of dog shows. While the federation initially held two shows, it now stages four, with two events taking place over the same weekend. Malou Grasges added that each show attracts an average of more than 2,000 dogs from around twenty to thirty countries, mainly Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Germany, but also from countries such as Italy, Spain, Japan, Israel and Montenegro.
According to organisers, visitor numbers can also vary considerably depending on the weather. The event typically attracts around 600 to 700 visitors over a sunny weekend, while attendance can exceed 1,000 in rainy conditions.
The programme featured several Best in Show categories, including Minor Puppy, Puppy, Junior, Veteran, Couple and Breedersgroup competitions, alongside the main Best in Show title.
On Saturday, the main Best in Show title went to Hathor House Wild West, a black Miniature Schnauzer, followed by Lhasa Apso Tai Fanza Lotus Blossom in second place and Golden Retriever Parabellum De Lar De Casanova in third.
On Sunday, the main Best in Show title went to Like A Million Dollar Smile Vom Sutumer Grund, a White Swiss Shepherd Dog owned by Nina Bortel. Victoria Secret Generation Top, a black Miniature Poodle owned by Nathalie Bourgeois, finished second, while Oleg Rjabina De Bergerac, a smooth-haired Standard Dachshund owned by Skaiste Verbickaite, placed third.
