The Luxembourg Bankers' Association (ABBL) has announced that it will hold a conference dedicated to the European Union (EU) Digital Identity Wallet, taking place on Monday 18 May 2026 at the headquarters of Luxembourg bank Spuerkeess (Banque et Caisse d'Épargne de l'État) in Luxembourg-Ville.

The event will begin at 16:00, with welcome drinks scheduled from 15:30. The conference will focus on the implementation of the amended EU Digital Identity Framework Regulation, which requires EU Member States to provide at least one Digital Identity Wallet to all citizens and residents by December 2026.

The conference aims to provide insights into recent European and Luxembourg developments linked to digital identity, as well as the practical implications for the banking sector and wider digital ecosystem.

The programme will feature keynote speaker Norbert Sagstetter, as well as representatives from Luxembourg’s Ministry for Digitalisation, the Government IT Centre (CTIE), luxTrust, Worldline and Spuerkeess.

Topics due to be discussed include developments related to Luxembourg’s Digital Identity Wallet, banking use cases and KYC perspectives, authentication challenges, the introduction of a Business Wallet and EU consortium initiatives linked to payments and other digital services.
