On Saturday 30 August 2025, the sawmill Bois Brever SA announced the installation of a new drying chamber and the modernisation of the main saw at its facilities in northern Luxembourg.

Bois Brever SA reported that between April and May 2025, a new drying chamber was installed to expand the company’s drying capacity.

They noted that with demand for technically dried timber continuing to rise, the sawmill has invested in an additional modern kiln from the brand Hildebrand-Brunner. With this installation, the sawmill now operates three vacuum dryers and three conventional kilns, providing a total capacity of around 365 m³.

During the three-week summer shutdown, modernisation works concentrated on the core of the sawmill – the main saw line, where an overhauled SUPER 40 Quattro profiling line has been installed to replace the previous machine.

The rebuild was carried out in three stages. Firstly, the profiler, centring unit and four-band saws were replaced by an identical refurbished Super 40. The large components of the machine necessitated the use of a crane to lift the parts through the roof into the mill. The second stage involved alignment and wiring works, with each part requiring precise adjustment and professional installation. The final stage consisted of functional testing and commissioning. This successfully brought the new line into operation.

"The modernisation of older installations as well as investments in new equipment are essential for optimising the production of our sawmill. The overhaul of the main saw will not increase sawing capacity – that was not our objective. Rather, it serves to prevent breakdowns and further wear that would inevitably occur with the ageing equipment over the coming months and years,” stated Corinne Brever, Director at Bois Brever SA.

She added: “By contrast, the construction of an additional drying kiln was necessary in order to expand capacity. We could no longer keep up with demand for drying – a process that is highly sought after and forms a key part of one of our main product lines, KVH. Further exciting projects are already in the pipeline. In a business like ours, the work is never truly finished."

Located in Huldange, in the commune of Troisvierges, Bois Brever SA specialises in the production and processing of construction timber and planed goods.
