On Thursday 21 May 2026, Amazon announced its economic impact data for Luxembourg in 2025, conducted by the independent economic consultancy Keystone Strategy.

According to data, in 2025, Amazon invested more than €1.9 billion in Luxembourg, including infrastructure and employee compensation. This has contributed an additional €750 million to Luxembourg’s GDP, supporting around 5,000 indirect jobs and 1,500 induced jobs, in areas like construction, logistics and professional services.

Mariangela Marseglia, Vice President at Amazon European Stores . “In 2025, we invested more than €1.9 billion in Luxembourg, building on the more than €1.8 billion invested in 2024. It is remarkable to see how Luxembourg consistently delivers what matters most: exceptional talent; sound governance; and an environment where ambition translates into results.”

According to Amazon, the company has expanded its presence in Luxembourg over the past 2 decades, with cumulative investment since 2010 now exceeding €13 billion. Between 2015 and 2025, Amazon invested more than €12 billion in Luxembourg and contributed over €4 billion to the country’s GDP.

The company stated that its €1.9 billion investment in 2025 alone exceeded the City of Luxembourg’s 2025 budget of approximately €1.25 billion. Amazon also estimated that every euro it invests generates around €0.73 in GDP contribution, which it said is higher than the contribution of Luxembourg’s agriculture sector.

Antonio Fatas, Professor of Economics at INSEAD and Keystone Strategy partner noted: “The Luxembourg economy and the EU economy at large, have been dealing with sluggish growth in the recent past. Governments understand the need to boost investment in particular in areas that can sustain activity and improve competitiveness and productivity.” He added: “This investment is likely to drive further investment and job opportunities in the local economy while it also produces externalities on companies and sectors that rely on the services and infrastructure offered by Amazon.

Amazon’s presence has built a foundation of economic activity that surpasses Amazon’s own operations. Investment at this level, maintained year after year, supports supply chains, stimulates local spending, and creates conditions for employment across a range of sectors, including logistics, cloud computing and satellite development. Luxembourg remains a cornerstone of Amazon’s European operations.

Looking beyond its economic impact, Amazon stated that supporting the communities where its employees live remains a key priority, alongside encouraging employees to engage in causes they care about.

According to Amazon, this approach has led to partnerships with several organisations in Luxembourg, including the Luxembourg Red Cross, Stëmm vun der Strooss and Digital Inclusion.

The company highlighted that by late 2025 it had donated more than €330,000 to the Luxembourg Red Cross, including €90,000 worth of medical supplies for Ukraine relief efforts, as well as thousands of backpacks and hygiene kits for vulnerable communities.

Amazon also reported donating more than 2,000 laptops to Digital Inclusion and providing goods to Stëmm vun der Strooss, including 2,000 hygiene kits and 500 bags with school material. The company added that employee clothing donation drives in late 2025 also resulted in large volumes of clothing being donated to the organisation.

Michael Simonis, General Director at Luxembourg Red Cross, noted: “Amazon has consistently shown up where it matters most. This is not a one-off gesture. It is a sustained commitment that has helped us extend our reach to those who need it, both here, in Luxembourg, and beyond our borders.”

Alexandra Oxacelay, Director at Stëmm vun der Strooss, explained: “Luxembourg is not immune to the global trend of homelessness and growing poverty risk. At Stëmm our goal is to meet that need, raise visibility for it and engage the community to help those who need it most. Amazon’s support has been invaluable in this regard.” She added: “Their long-term and committed partnership has made a huge difference in the lives of thousands of people, giving them dignity and help they truly need.”

Patrick de La Hamette, Digital Inclusion Asbl Director, stated: “At Digital Inclusion, our mission is to ensure everyone in Luxembourg has access to information technology and computing. The donation of over 2,000 laptops from Amazon has been transformative for the communities we serve. For households that could otherwise not afford a personal computer, receiving a laptop means children can do their homework, parents can access public services, residents in need and refugees can take their first steps toward labour market integration through digital upskilling programmes.”

The company added that one of its most recent initiatives involved an employee-led group of women engineers who played a key role in the inaugural Young Women’s Conference, where they engaged with up to 420 young students and helped to bring Luxembourg’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects to life.
