On Thursday 15 October 2026, Luxembourg's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Viticulture announced that Luxembourgish farmer Nora Feyder had been selected among the “100 Heroines of Agrifood Systems and Rural Development” by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The ministry nominated Nora Feyder for the international recognition, which honours women for their contributions to agriculture, food systems and rural development. She received the recognition during a ceremony held on Thursday at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.

The initiative, launched to mark the International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026, attracted 609 nominations submitted by 131 FAO members. An evaluation process involving several stages determined the 100 women selected, taking into account geographical balance and diversity of profiles.

Nora Feyder is preparing to take over her family's dairy farm, becoming the fourteenth generation to run the business. Her approach focuses on hay milk production, efficient resource use and diversification to strengthen the farm's resilience. She is also involved in representing young farmers and contributing to agricultural and food policy development.

“I am proud to see Nora Feyder receive this international recognition. Through her, we are also honouring all the women who shape our agriculture: today, in Luxembourg, one in five farms is run by a woman. Whether they are managing a farm or working in less visible roles, their contribution is essential and deserves our recognition. Let us continue to support their commitment,” said Minister Hansen.
