On Monday 10 November 2025, Luxembourg non-profit organisation SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde (SOSVEM) announced that it is joining the "Giving Tuesday" global generosity movement for the fifth consecutive year.

SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde will celebrate Giving Tuesday on 2 December 2025 - the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States. This global day of generosity was born in the US in response to the excesses of Black Friday.

The organisation joined the global Giving Tuesday movement in 2021; an initiative created in response to Black Friday to encourage charitable giving and acts of solidarity. Through the campaign, SOS Children’s Villages World aims to raise funds and increase awareness of its programmes supporting vulnerable children worldwide, particularly those without parental protection, affected by crises or deprived of their rights.

According to the organisation, more than €35,000 has been raised over the past four years through previous Giving Tuesday campaigns to support projects in Madagascar, Colombia, Ethiopia and Morocco.

For the 2025 edition, SOSVEM has said the funds will again support a post-earthquake education and child protection project in Aït Ourir (Marrakech-Safi region, Morocco). Since November 2024, a co-educational secondary school for 500 pupils and a boarding facility for 50 girls have been under construction, with the opening expected in September 2026. These new facilities aim to ensure that pupils in the region — already vulnerable since the earthquake — are able to return to school and benefit from suitable learning conditions associated with quality education.

SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde said it welcomes any donation, fundraising or creative message on social media (using hashtags #GivingTuesday and #NoChildAlone and tagging @sosvillagesdenfantsmonde).
