Mathieu van der Poel to Return to Škoda Tour de Luxembourg

On Wednesday 2 September 2026, the organisers of the Škoda Tour de Luxembourg announced that Dutch cyclist Mathieu van der Poel will return to the race for the second time in three years.

Van der Poel previously competed in Luxembourg in 2024, when he won the opening stage and the points classification before finishing second overall, fifteen seconds behind Italy's Antonio Tiberi (Bahrain Victorious).

The organisers noted that Luxembourg once again forms part of Van der Poel's preparations for the World Championships, with the Dutch rider returning to the Škoda Tour de Luxembourg with the aim of making his mark on the race again.

The 2026 Škoda Tour de Luxembourg will take place from Wednesday 16 to Sunday 20 September 2026 and will comprise five stages covering more than 700 km. The race will start at Luxembourg-Knuedler, with the opening stage finishing at Luxembourg-Fëschmaart. The remaining stages will run from Differdange/Niederkorn to Junglinster, Wiltz to Diekirch, around Ettelbruck and from Mersch to Luxembourg-Limpertsberg.
