Luxembourg's national statistical institute STATEC, in collaboration with GovTech Lab, has announced the STATEC Hackathon will take place from Monday 27 to Wednesday 29 October 2025.
The three-day event will be held at STATEC’s offices in Belvaux (12 Boulevard du Jazz) and depending on participation numbers, at GovTech Lab in Luxembourg City (560 Rue de Neudorf). It is aimed at curious minds, creators and data enthusiasts and will focus on turning statistical data into practical information for both citizens and decision-makers.
The organisers said participants will address key economic questions by combining programming, data analysis, economic knowledge and creativity. The aim is to transform raw figures into concrete solutions that can contribute to shaping Luxembourg’s future.
The programme will feature activities that will encourage participants to: explore statistical data on Luxembourg’s society and economy; develop solutions for data access and visualisation; apply techniques to combine statistical indicators and create dashboards highlighting key trends; and contribute to informed decision-making for a smarter, data-driven future.
Participation is open to everyone. Individuals or teams of two to six people can take part, with team formations offering the opportunity to combine different areas of expertise and foster creativity.
Places are limited and registration is required. Depending on the number of participants, the hackathon may be held across two sites (GovTech Lab and STATEC). The final location details will be communicated to participants by email after registration.
