On Friday 29 May 2026, Luxembourg’s statistics institute, STATEC, announced that according to preliminary results the annual inflation rate of the national consumer price index (IPCN) stood at 2.3% for the month of May 2026.

STATEC said that as a result of this rate, the index linked to the base value of 1.1.1948 for May exceeded the threshold of 1,038.79 points and will trigger a new wage indexation.

According to the institution, the new application rate for the sliding wage scale of 992.24 points (previous rate: 968.04 points) will come into effect on Monday 1 June 2026, resulting in a 2.5% increase in wages, salaries and pensions from that date.

The final and detailed results of the national consumer price index for May 2026 will be published on Wednesday 3 June, following the monthly meeting of the Consumer Price Index Commission.
