On Tuesday 15 July 2025, Valorlux launched a call for proposals aimed at reducing packaging waste.

As part of its missions and in anticipation of the future EU regulation on packaging and packaging waste, Valorlux is launching a call for proposals to support companies, local authorities and other stakeholders in Luxembourg wishing to implement concrete solutions to reduce packaging waste.

Valorlux noted that "the stakes are high": by 2040, Luxembourg will have to reduce the amount of packaging waste produced per capita by 15% compared to 2018. Valorlux said it therefore wants to encourage practical and innovative projects. These could include introducing reusable packaging for takeaway and online shopping or setting up refill schemes that allow consumers to use their own reusable containers for their shopping.

This project is a continuation of the prevention measures implemented by Valorlux, such as the introduction of the Eco-bag, which has made it possible to achieve the legal target of fewer than 40 single-use plastic bags per person per year.

The call for proposals is open until 15 October 2025. Selected projects will be eligible for funding of up to 50%, with a maximum of €100,000.
