On Wednesday 11 February 2026, Luxembourg's Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity launched a call for applications for the third edition of the Climate Youth Delegates (CYD) programme for the 2026-2027 period.

The programme is being organised in collaboration with the National Youth Council of Luxembourg (Jugendrot/CGJL). It offers one or two young people aged between eighteen and 35, residing in Luxembourg, the opportunity to represent the voice of Luxembourg’s youth at international climate negotiations. This includes participation in the Subsidiary Bodies conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), scheduled to take place in Bonn in June 2026, as well as COP31, which will be held from 9 to 20 November 2026 in Antalya, Turkey.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, Luxembourg has long been engaged in multilateral climate processes, notably within the framework of the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement. Through the CYD programme, the ministry aims to strengthen youth participation by further integrating young people’s perspectives, expectations and proposals into the development and implementation of national and international climate policies.

The Climate Youth Delegates selected for the 2026-2027 period will work closely with the delegates from the previous edition, Lara Bertemes and Sarah Mackel, to ensure knowledge transfer ahead of their participation in COP31 in November 2026.

The deadline for submitting complete applications is Sunday 8 March 2026 at 23:59 via the online form available at: https://www.jugendrot.lu/candidaturecyd/
