On Wednesday 18 February 2026, Luxembourg’s Fondation Hëllef fir d’Natur announced the publication of its 2025 annual report.

As reported by the foundation, the document offers a detailed overview of the actions undertaken over the past year to preserve biodiversity and natural environments in Luxembourg.

The foundation highlighted the projects carried out in 2025, notably forest plantations, new acquisitions, the restoration of natural habitats through the LIFE Bats&Birds, LIFE ArdennEislek and ReStruktur projects, and efforts to raise awareness among the general public through communication and education. It also highlights the progress made thanks to the partnerships established with local and international players, as well as the growing involvement of local authorities and citizens committed to nature.

In 2025, the Fondation Hëllef fir d’Natur received €631,000 in private donations, €511,000 in sponsorship and €25,000 in other donations. It currently manages a total of 2,058.3 hectares of land across Luxembourg, for the purpose of protecting nature.

The foundation operates four offices, counts around 30 experts (biologists, geographers, forestry engineers and communications specialists) and is involved in fourteen projects, including LIFE, Interreg and national initiatives. It also identifies 84 priority reserves and processed 36 external requests over the past year.

“In 2025, this enabled us to acquire more than 100 additional hectares and surpass the threshold of 2,000 hectares of land holdings. Land ownership remains the strongest guarantee of nature protection and an essential condition for investing sustainably in habitat restoration and combating biodiversity loss,” said Patrick Losch, President of the Fondation Hëllef fir d’Natur.

“This report illustrates not only the challenges we face, but also the successes we have achieved for the environment. We hope it will encourage even more people and companies to support the Foundation in its actions,” added Nicolas Hormain, Head of Communications at the Fondation Hëllef fir d’Natur.
