On Saturday 20 September 2025, the Irish Club of Luxembourg will host a cinema evening at 19:00 at Ciné Utopia in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg, organised in support of the British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg (BIFFL) as part of the 16th Autumn Festival.
The film selected for the evening is “Mrs Robinson”, a 94-minute Irish documentary directed by Aoife Kelleher and featuring Mary Robinson. Presented with French subtitles, the film tells the story of Ireland’s first female president in her own words, highlighting her decades-long battles for justice and equality.
The documentary retraces Mary Robinson’s journey from her early career as a constitutional lawyer and senator to her landmark election as Ireland’s first female president in 1990. It further highlights her later work as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and her ongoing role as Chair of The Elders, the independent group of global leaders founded by Nelson Mandela. More recently, Robinson has been spearheading Project Dandelion, a women-led campaign for climate justice.
