The Luxembourg Football Federation (FLF) has announced the national women’s squad for the upcoming UEFA Women’s European Qualifiers matches, with Luxembourg set to face Israel on neutral ground in Budaörs, Hungary on Tuesday 14 and Saturday 18 April 2026.
The squad was selected by new head coaches Cristina Correia and Daniel Zirbes, who have taken charge following the departure of former coach Daniel Santos.
The squad includes 26 players, among them goalkeepers Emma Goetz (FK Austria Wien, Austria), Joy Jung (Swift Hesperange) and Lucie Schlimé (SC Sand, Germany). Defenders in the squad are Ana Barbosa (Racing FC Union Luxembourg), Amal Cherkane (SC Bettembourg), Silvia Conte (Racing FC Union Luxembourg), Kimberley Dos Santos (Racing FC Union Luxembourg), Liane Freymann (SV Deutz 05, Germany), Emma Kremer (Vorwärts Spoho 98, Germany), Joana Ribeiro (FC Kehlen) and Vera Villegas (Stade de Reims, France).
Midfield options include Carolina Barbosa de Sousa (FC Kehlen), Marta Estevez (Racing FC Union Luxembourg), Aina Fernandez-Berenguer (FC Metz, France), Carmen Kirps (1. FC Saarbrücken), Catarina Lavinas (FC Famalicão, Portugal), Leticia Mateus (Jeunesse Junglinster), Anna Miny (TuS Issel, Germany), Charlotte Schmit (Sporting CP, Portugal) and Leila Schmit (SV Elversberg, Germany).
In attack, the squad features Hannah Dietrich (1. FC Saarbrücken, Germany), Charlie Jorge (Jeunesse Junglinster), Rachel Kirps (SV Elversberg, Germany), Joana Lourenco (Young Boys Diekirch), Barbara Serra (SC Ell) and Diana Teles (FC Differdange 03).
Compared to the previous matches, seven players are absent from the squad, including key figures such as captain Laura Miller and the team’s top scorer in the 2024/2025 UEFA Women’s Nations League campaign, Amy Thompson. Also missing are midfielders Edina Kocan, Olivia Konsbrück and Caroline Jorge, as well as regular defender Andreia Machado.
Cristina Correia and Daniel Zirbes recently took charge of the team following the departure of former head coach Daniel Santos, whose contract was terminated with immediate effect by the FLF Board of Directors on 11 March 2026.
Under Daniel Santos, the Red Lionesses began their UEFA Women’s European Qualifiers campaign with two defeats against Scotland (0-5 at home and 0-7 away), while Israel lost 0-3 and 0-5 to Belgium.
