The Fédération des Industries Luxembourgeoises (FEDIL) has expressed serious concern over the anticipated disruptions in the semiconductor supply chain, highlighting the potential impact on Luxembourg’s automotive, industrial electronics, mechatronics and sensor technology sectors.
In a press release issued on Friday 17 October 2025, FEDIL stated that the disruptions are likely to affect numerous European industrial sectors. Any interruption in supply could jeopardise production continuity, adherence to contractual commitments and short-term employment.
FEDIL noted that the reliance on a limited number of non-European suppliers makes these supply chains particularly vulnerable to export restrictions and geopolitical pressures and emphasised the urgent need to diversify supply sources towards reliable partners and to accelerate the implementation of the European Chips Act.
FEDIL said it advocates for a balanced approach combining openness and resilience: strategic autonomy allows action and independent production when necessary, while remaining connected and cooperative. In the immediate term, FEDIL called on the Luxembourg government, in coordination with the European Commission, to engage actively in crisis coordination at the European level, in order to assess the impact and support the implementation of contingency measures.
