Luxembourg’s Minister for Tourism, Lex Delles, recently presented the new "Business Events 2030" strategy, aiming to establish the long-term development of Luxembourg as a key touristic destination for business events.

The Grand Duchy’s General Directorate for Tourism reported a potential for the business events’ segment development, including conferences, congresses, conventions, exhibitions, trade fairs, corporate events, incentives and special events. This applies particularly to the country’s economic, technological, scientific and cultural development, which, according to the general directorate, will have to be exploited in a sustainable manner.

The General Directorate for Tourism developed this new strategy in close consultation with representatives of the business events sector in Luxembourg and internationally, with the aim of identifying new opportunities and helping players orient their investment choices, organisation and adaptation of their services.

The General Directorate for Tourism has identified four priority development areas to anchor the new strategic policy for business events in Luxembourg. The key points "Organise, Federate, Develop and Measure" will bring together various concrete measures, including: the elaboration of an opportunity map for the business events segment, facilitating the identification of assets and characteristics specific to each region of the country; the implementation of a programme dedicated to mobilising all the active forces (academic, associative, economic, political and social) capable of generating events; the support of initiatives dedicated to innovations and technologies for the future of business events; the creation of a “Business Events” observatory to evaluate, among other things, the dynamics of direct, indirect and induced economic spin-offs, the rate of event generation and conversion, and the satisfaction of organisers and stakeholders.

Minister Delles indicated in this context that "the ‘Business Events 2030’ strategy is an important lever for establishing Luxembourg as one of the 50 best destinations in the world for the organisation of international congresses. This strategy aims in particular to guide and support the range of players in the sector, both at national and local level, while integrating a constructive exchange with the public. With this approach, the General Directorate for Tourism is creating optimal conditions for the sustainable development of the business events sector.
