On Monday 12 May 2025, the Luxembourg Film Academy (D'Filmakademie) announced the appointment of Fred Neuen as its new President.
Fred Neuen succeeds Yann Tonnar, who has stepped down to pursue his professional endeavours, according to a statement.
The Luxembourg Film Academy noted that, under Yann Tonnar's presidency, it has established itself as a "stable" and "influential" institution within Luxembourg's film industry. "His dedication and vision have laid a strong foundation for the organisation's continued growth and success," continued the statement.
"I am honoured to accept this position and grateful for the trust placed in me by the Academy members," said Fred Neuen, newly elected President. "Yann Tonnar's exceptional work has positioned the Academy as a cornerstone of Luxembourg's film community. We are thankful for his outstanding contributions over the years."
Looking ahead, President Neuen has outlined his commitment to building upon his predecessor's achievements while expanding the Luxembourg Film Academy's scope. His vision includes strengthening the institution's presence both domestically and internationally, furthering Luxembourg's position in the global film landscape.
The Luxembourg Film Academy's board and members have extended their "heartfelt gratitude" to Yann Tonnar for his "exemplary service" and "welcome Fred Neuen as they embark on this new chapter".
