On Friday 20 June 2025, Luxembourg's employment agency, ADEM, reported that there were 18,469 resident jobseekers available for work at the end of May 2025; the unemployment rate remained unchanged over one month, at 6%.

The number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM as of 31 May 2025 stood at 18,469, an increase of 999 individuals (or 5.7%) compared to May 2024.

This increase particularly affected jobseekers registered with ADEM for twelve months or more, as well as jobseekers over the age of 45 and the most qualified jobseekers (university graduates). Regarding professions, the most significant increases concerned the accounting, road transport driving, culinary production and IT sectors.

The number of new resident registrations fell slightly. A total of 2,269 residents registered with ADEM in May 2025, marking a decrease of 25 individuals (or 1.1%) compared to May 2024. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained stable at 6% in May 2025.

The number of resident jobseekers receiving full unemployment benefits decreased by 122 individuals (or 1.2%) year-on-year, to stand at 10,008 as of 31 May 2025. A total of 4,458 individuals benefited from employment support measures, representing a slight decrease (1.7%) compared to May 2024.

In May 2025, employers reported 2,834 vacant positions to ADEM, representing a decrease of 18.8% compared to May 2024. The total number of available positions at the end of the month was 7,205, down 10.2% compared to May 2024. This decrease particularly concerned the professions of accounting, law, banking and finance, as well as business organisation and economic studies.
