
On Monday 22 September 2025, Luxembourg's employment agency, ADEM, reported that there were 18,065 resident jobseekers available for work at the end of August 2025; the unemployment rate remained unchanged (5.9%) over one month and new registrations were stable.
The number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM as of 31 August 2025 stood at 18,065, an increase of 330 people or 1.9% compared to August 2024. This increase particularly affected jobseekers over 45 and those with higher education qualifications. Regarding professions, the most significant increases concerned accounting, secretarial and assistance, IT, and road transport driving.
The number of new resident registrations has remained stable. A total of 2,460 residents registered with ADEM during the month of August 2025, up 0.2% compared to August 2024.
The number of resident jobseekers receiving full unemployment benefits decreased by 464 people or 4.5% over one year, to stand at 9,762 as of 31 August 2025. A total of 4,049 individuals benefited from employment support measures, marking a drop of 2.4% compared to August 2024.
In August 2025, employers reported 2,636 vacant positions to ADEM, representing a decrease of 6.5% compared to August 2024. The total number of available positions at the end of August 2025 was 6,536, down 9.8% over one year. This decrease particularly concerned the accounting, construction, and business organisation and economic studies professions.
As of 31 August 2025, Luxembourg's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, calculated by STATEC, remained stable at 5.9%.
