On Thursday 15 October 2026, Luxembourg’s Minister of Culture, Eric Thill, and the Luxembourg Centre for the Luxembourgish Language (ZLS), together with Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, presented the new hybrid exhibition entitled “D’Lëtzebuerger Sprooch(en)” (“Luxembourgish Language(s)”) in Luxembourg for the first time.

According to the Ministry of Culture, this new hybrid offering expands on the ZLS’s well-known travelling exhibition of the same name, which was first presented in June 2023. It has been enriched with new topics, such as the Luxembourgish school system and the link between language and migration, while its interactive elements have also been developed further. All content has been adapted for a wider audience, allowing even those with no prior knowledge of Luxembourg or the Luxembourgish language to benefit from the exhibition.

The hybrid exhibition is available in five languages: all content is offered in Luxembourgish, German, French, English and Portuguese. It consists of two parts: a website and a physical component comprising eleven items that can be displayed as posters and/or roll-up banners. The website (www.sproochen-expo.lu) is free of charge and accessible from anywhere in the world. It also enables people who are unable to travel to discover the ZLS’s exhibition offering in a digital environment.

Minister Thill said: “This new hybrid exhibition is a kaleidoscope of the Luxembourgish language and multilingualism in Luxembourg. It makes our language accessible in all its richness and diversity and invites visitors to explore it more closely. The exhibition encourages exchange and is aimed both at people who have recently arrived in Luxembourg and at everyone who wishes to gain a better understanding of our unique linguistic situation.”

Minister Bettel added: “Multilingualism is one of Luxembourg’s many strengths, shaping our country, our society and our image around the world. In recent years, the Luxembourgish language has taken on an increasingly important role at political and administrative levels, and especially in schools. In this respect, the hybrid exhibition by the Luxembourg Centre for the Luxembourgish Language offers an innovative way of presenting our linguistic model to a wider audience, both in Luxembourg and abroad.”

Who is the exhibition for?

The ministry detailed that unlike a traditional travelling exhibition, this hybrid exhibition can be presented anywhere in the world and is also suitable for international audiences. It can, of course, also be displayed in Luxembourg. In particular, its website can be used in schools, including in Luxembourgish language classes.

Those interested can visit the exhibition on Friday 16 October, between 09:00 and 17:00, during an open day at the Ministry of Culture (4 Boulevard Roosevelt, L-2450 Luxembourg). It will also be open to the general public at the same location on Saturday 17 October, from 10:00 to 16:00, as part of the European Heritage Days.

All information about this exhibition and the ZLS’s other exhibition offerings is available on the ZLS website: https://zls.gouvernement.lu/fr/exposition-itinerante.html

In addition, the ZLS’s “traditional” travelling exhibition remains available in Luxembourg alongside this new hybrid offering.
