JB Graftieaux Appointed CEO of Coinbase Luxembourg

On Wednesday 8 October 2025, cryptocurrency platform Coinbase announced Jean-Baptiste "JB" Graftieaux as its new Senior Country Director in Luxembourg.

According to Coinbase, this appointment underscores the company's continued investment and leadership in Europe after having obtaining its MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation) licence in Luxembourg earlier this year.

JB Graftieaux is the CEO of Coinbase Luxembourg, where he will lead the company's MiCA journey across Europe. He has over a decade of experience in crypto, fintech and payments. Before joining Coinbase, JB was the Global CEO of Bitstamp, where he led the company through its successful sale in 2025. He previously held senior roles at eBay Europe - overseeing regulatory operations and board governance - and at PayPal, where he served as Executive and EMEA Chief Compliance Officer. Coinbase added that JB "combines deep crypto-native insight with traditional financial services expertise to help advance Coinbase's mission of increasing economic freedom in the world".
